Semester at Sea Morocco Tour Itinerary | Fall 2026 Voyage
Semester at Sea Students Discover Morocco’s Culture, History, and the Sahara Desert
Semester at Sea will stop in Tangier, Morocco, during its Fall 2026 voyage (138th Voyage), giving students the opportunity to explore the country’s rich history, vibrant culture, and breathtaking landscapes. Designed exclusively for Semester at Sea students, this immersive experience combines historical discoveries, authentic cultural encounters, scenic journeys, and unforgettable adventures in the Sahara Desert.
Rather than simply visiting popular attractions, participants explore Morocco through meaningful cultural encounters, guided historical tours, and authentic local experiences. As they travel across the country, students gain valuable insights into Morocco’s diverse heritage while connecting classroom learning with real-world experiences.
Educational Travel Experience in Morocco
Morocco provides an exceptional environment for experiential education thanks to its rich history, cultural diversity, and remarkable landscapes. Throughout the tour, students visit imperial cities, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Amazigh (Berber) communities, mountain villages, and the spectacular Sahara Desert.
In addition, experienced English-speaking local guides explain Morocco’s history, traditions, architecture, and customs. Consequently, every destination becomes an opportunity to learn about geography, religion, culture, sustainability, and daily life. Instead of reading about these subjects in textbooks, students experience them firsthand.
Cultural Immersion and Global Learning
Authentic cultural exchange is one of the highlights of this Morocco itinerary. During the journey, students interact with local families, artisans, merchants, and community members while discovering Moroccan traditions, languages, and hospitality.
Moreover, these personal encounters encourage cultural understanding, critical thinking, and global awareness. As participants step outside their comfort zones, they strengthen communication skills, adaptability, and confidence. By the end of the program, they return home with lifelong memories and a deeper appreciation for Morocco’s unique cultural identity.
